Urban Lab - Communal Development Policy, Urban Thinkers Campus 2017, Town Hall N1, Bürgersaal

All levels of government bear the responsibility for this “one world”. According to the preamble of the Agenda 2030 for sustainable development, the success of the Agenda 2030 depends strongly on the participation of different actors to implement the sustainable development goals and to establish a new spirit of international cooperation.
Municipal development policy includes municipal measures in information and education activities, fair procurement and activities abroad in terms of municipal partnerships or exchange of municipal staff within international municipal networks.

The specific combination of at home and abroad activities turns municipal development policy effective- both internally and outwardly.
The commitment of the communities in development policy therefore reaches a bigger sphare of influence.

Furthermore municipal projects in development policy find greater acceptance among citizens with migrant background through active involvement of population groups with migrant background. This encourages the integration and living together on base of common values.
