The ”In” Crowd ist ein Titel des Pianisten Ramsey Lewis, der 1965 in den US-Single-Charts überraschend auf Platz 5 katapultiert wurde. Auf Platz 1 lag damals Yesterday von den Beatles! Es folgten weitere Hits des Ramsey Lewis Trios wie Wade In The Water, A Hard Day’s Night oder Hang On Sloopy.
Der spezielle Ramsey Lewis-Sound ist nicht unbedingt für die Konzertsäle, sondern für die Clubs und Bars gemacht: unterhaltsam, tanzbar, funky – „the people’s music“ eben. Oder wie Pfälzer sagen würden: „Jazz für die Leut“. Die musikalischen Hauptzutaten: Soul-Jazz, Blues, Gospel, Latin und die unsterblichen Songs von Lennon/McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Carole King oder Burt Bacharach. Das Trio um Thomas Wind (Piano) mit Fritz Heieck am Kontrabass und Christian Maurer am Schlagzeug hat sich ganz diesem Sixties-Groove verschrieben.

The ‘In' Crowd is a song by pianist Ramsey Lewis that surprisingly catapulted to number 5 in the US singles charts in 1965. At number 1 at the time was Yesterday by the Beatles! Other hits by the Ramsey Lewis trio followed, such as Wade In The Water, A Hard Day's Night and Hang On Sloopy.
The special Ramsey Lewis sound is not necessarily made for concert halls, but for clubs and bars: entertaining, danceable, funky - ‘the people's music’. Or as the Palatines would say: ‘Jazz for the people’. The main musical ingredients: soul jazz, blues, gospel, Latin and the immortal songs of Lennon/McCartney, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Carole King and Burt Bacharach. The trio around Thomas Wind (piano) with Fritz Heieck on double bass and Christian Maurer on drums has dedicated itself entirely to this sixties groove.
