"One Square Kilometre of Education - Education in the Square“

“One Square Kilometre of Education - Education in the Square“ is a 10-year long-term promotional approach accompanying children’s biographies which is restricted to the social area of the school district of the Humboldt Primary School in Neckarstadt-West and financed by the private-public cooperation of the Freudenberg Foundation and the city of Mannheim.

The aim of this approach is to develop and try out an educational culture across institutions in the school district in order to be able to promote children as optimally and individually as possible. This shall be realised by the targeted networking and cooperation of the teachers and the child-care staff in day-care facilities, the parents and all other informal educational institutions and actors in the Neckarstadt–West district. The heart of “One Square Kilometre of Education“ is the “Pedagogical Workshop“, which functions as a driving force, initiator and coordinator of the education association in the Neckarstadt-West district. A steering group, consisting of representatives of the city of Mannheim, the Freudenberg Foundation, the school authority of the state, the management of the Humboldt Primary School, the day-care centres and the Intercultural Education Centre, accompanies the work of the Pedagogical Workshop with specialist support and determines its thematic orientation.
